George Kwabena Adu also known as Kwabena Kwabena was born in Accra on 17th October 1978. He attended Datus Complex in Bubuashie and continued when his family relocated to Achimota at
Green Hill School and Aggrey Junior Secondary School for his basic education and completed St. Peters secondary school in Nkwatia Kwahu in eastern region some years back.
He was in Accra polytechnic for his tertiary education while he was still doing his music. Today Kwabena is a draftsman and hopes to become an architect in the near future. At a thought it seems difficult if not impossible to combine draftsmanship and music but Kwabena says combining them is a big privilege he said.
He started this career at the Hush Hush studios; where he mostly featured on songs belonging to other artistes. He has being featured by Tinny, Nkasei, Kontihene , A plus, he also did all the choruses on songs which made great impact like “you may kiss the bride”, and a lot more.
He has made it a point to preach something that always has positive influence to those who listen to his songs. To him, profane is an enemy to the industry. His first album titled Kwabena Kwabena took him seven years to record. His popular “ASOR” featuring Kontihene still remains one of the favourites of many Ghanaians.
Engineer’s who worked on the album include Appietus, Hammer, and Martin. It was mixed and mastered by
Hubert and Kofi Enti of Hush Hush studios. After his first he released a second titled Dabi, Do no bi, one of the tracks on the album made huge impact. It won him an award and was used as a soundtrack for one of Ghana’s best yet produced movies; Perfect Picture.
In the last couple of months Kwabena has received a lot of bad press as his “private life” and marriage has been under the public lens. Kwabena is still legally married to Esther and has a child with her. Kwabena has two other kids. Weeks ago Kwabena released his third album tittled Bibini and is expected to do well as it
is his best work yet. Kwabena represents hope for Highlife and is an inspiration for a lot of up and coming artistes.
